Sundogs Leavitt Beats Out Teammate By One Vote To Win Performance Of The Week

In an unbelievable finish to the Central Hockey League's (CHL) week 14 Performance of the Week poll, Arizona's Alex Leavitt edged out teammate Tyler Redenbach by one vote to win the weekly award. Leavitt recorded a hat trick in the 2008 CHL All-Star Game on Wednesday, January 16th earning the first-year Sundog the week's top performance. Redenbach finished second after recording six points including a CHL record-tying five assists in the game. The Arizona duo helped lead the Southern Conference to their first win in four years with an 11-6 victory over the Northern Conference. The game was played at the Broomfield Event Center in Broomfield, Colorado.

In what was the closest vote in the poll's history. Leavitt garnered 667 votes (26%), while Redenbach earned 666 votes (26%). New Mexico's Andrew Martin earned the win in the game and made 22 saves in the third period earning him 639 votes from fans (25%). The number of fans voting in the poll was 2529. Leavitt's hat trick in the all-star game will be automatically considered for the 2007-08 CHL Performance of the Year which will be announced in April, 2008.

Leavitt currently leads the league with 69 points (25-44=69). He has the Sundogs one point behind the Odessa Jackalopes for first place in the Southwest Division.

John DeCaro's (BOS) back-to-back shutouts on Jan. 25 & 27

Daymen Rycroft (RMR) scoring a goal in 10 straight games

Jeff Christian (TUL) recording a CHL season-high 22-game point streak

Bill Vandermeer's (AMA) six-point night in 7-2 victory over NMX, Jan. 26

Chris Richard's (YNG) recording three assists en route to his 600th professional point in win versus Rocky Mountain, Jan, 25
