Scorpions Fall In Overtime

[ RIO RANCHO, N.M.]-The fans in Rio Rancho were treated to a great hockey game, unfortunately, the Scorpions lost in overtime 2-1 to Arizona. Tyler Liebel scored the game winning goal 3:55 into the extra session.

After a scoreless first period, the teams traded power play goals in the second period. Aaron MacInnis brought the puck into the offensive zone and passed it to Dominic Osman. MacInnis then went directly to the net to set a screen. Mitch Stephens used the screen and scored his 14th goal of the season.

Arizona tied the game up 79 seconds later on their man advantage. David Schlemko finished a tic-tac-toe for his 8th goal of the season.

The Scorpions will continue their home stand with a pair of weekend games against Austin. Friday, three fans will have the chance to win a TV courtesy of Wal-Mart. Those not able to make it to the game can hear it on 610 The Sports Animal or watch it on the CHL Network starting at 7 p.m.

On Saturday, the Scorpions will honor those serving in public safety with the annual "Salute to the Badges Night." Come out to see who wins the Badges Cup as the police and fire battle in different contests. Prior to the Scorpions game, there will be a police vs. fire hockey game starting at 4 p.m. Both Scorpions home games this weekend start at 7:15 p.m.
