BOWIE, Md. - A three-run seventh inning by the Bowie Baysox helped them pull away from Altoona on Wednesday night as they defeated the Curve, 6-2, at Prince George's Stadium. The Baysox sent nine men to the plate in the frame to break open a close 3-2 game heading into the inning.

Michael Dubee began the seventh inning for Altoona after starter Tony Watson (6-3) pitched the first six innings and gave up three early runs. Dubee wound up getting into some trouble in the seventh, as the Baysox loaded up the bases against the right hander with one away. After Jonathan Tucker reached on an error by Josh Harrison to load up the bases, Carlos Rojas singled into center to bring home Bowie's fourth run of the game and made it, 4-2.

Dubee struck out Xavier Avery for the second out but then issued a bases-loaded walk to Danny Figueroa to walk in a run. Tom Boleska was summoned out of the bullpen and he too walked in a run when he walked Ryan Adams to run the Bowie lead to four at, 6-2.

The Baysox jumped on the scoreboard first in the first when Joel Guzman hit a two-out, two-run homer to give Bowie a, 2-0, lead.

Altoona countered in the top of the second when Jim Negrych came home on a throwing error by Avery, who was trying to throw out Yung-Chi Chen at second base. The throw got away from the second baseman and Negrych, who had stopped at third, trotted home to cut the Baysox lead to one.

Baysox first baseman Brandon Waring led off the bottom of the second inning with his 21st home run of the year, a solo shot to left, to extend Bowie's lead back to two. Altoona answered right back in the top half of the third with two down when Matt Hague singled in Jordy Mercer to make it, 3-2. For Hague, it was his 82nd RBI of the year and he now trails Carlos Rivera's 84 RBIs by two for fourth place in franchise history for RBI in a single season.

Harrison had two hits in the game to run his season total to 153, which are three behind Rob Mackowiak's 156 hits that rank third-best in franchise history for hits in one season.

Watson settled in after the second and went on to retire the final 10 batters he faced in the game. The Sioux City, Iowa native finished six innings and allowed the three runs on four hits with four strikeouts.

Altoona (80-57) will try and secure a series split at 7:05 p.m. Thursday night at Prince George's Stadium when they meet the Baysox (73-64) for the final time in 2010 regular season. LHP Jeff Locke (3-1, 2.73) takes the ball for Altoona while LHP Rick Zagone (4-5, 4.46) starts in the last home game of the year for Bowie.

Pregame coverage begins at 6:35 p.m. on flagship ESPN Radio, 1430 WVAM and the Curve Radio Network.
