Montreal Alouettes News Release

Montréal - The Montreal Alouettes suffered a defeat on Friday night, losing 19-13 to the Ottawa REDBLACKS at TD Place. This was the last preseason game for Jason Maas' squad. The team is expected to finalize its roster on Saturday.

Both of the team's kickers, David Côté (24 yards) and Jose Maltos (29 yards), each made a field goal on Friday. The Alouettes' touchdown was scored by quarterback James Morgan on a one-yard sneak in the fourth quarter.

Several veterans were left out of this game, allowing many young players to see playing time. Quarterbacks James Morgan and Caleb Evans led the offense.

Game notes:

Receiver Charleston Rambo performed well for the second consecutive game, catching three passes for 67 yards.

Running back Stevie Scott III rushed nine times for 61 yards.

On defense, Bryce Cosby recorded six defensive tackles and one on special teams. Geoffrey Cantin-Arku made four defensive tackles.

Quarterback James Morgan accumulated 117 yards by completing 11 of his 15 pass attempts.

They said...

"The guys have been working tirelessly for three weeks, and tonight they gave a great effort. I am proud because they never gave up. We showed our identity on the field." - Jason Maas, head coach

"These are preseason games, but it is important for us to execute our usual plays. We practice the mechanics to ensure we are ready. I am happy to have had the opportunity to make a field goal before the start of the season."
