Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

Albuquerque (37-32) took game two of the series with a five-run eight, defeating the Redbirds (35-35) 13-10 at Isotopes Park Saturday night. First baseman Brian Barden extended his hitting streak to 10 games with an RBI single in the fourth matching the 2013 team high. He also scored a run, drove in two runs and drew two free passes as part of a 14-walk night for Albuquerque establishing a new season mark.

Rob Rasmussen made his first Triple-A start at home for the Isotopes tossing four innings of six-run ball on five hits. The southpaw also walked four and struck out four. Left-hander Kelvin De La Cruz added two innings out of the bullpen allowing two runs on four hits. Righty Sean White (2-4, 3.82) threw two one-hit innings, earning the win.

Geison Aguasviva, the third lefty of the game for Albuquerque, finished the contest for the Isotopes earning his first save after Anthony Ortega surrendered one run in the ninth without recording an out. Aguasviva allowed two runs in his outing getting out of a bases loaded jam by inducing a game-ending double play.

Jeremy Moore (1-for-1, 3 R, 3 RBI) was hit by a pitch in the third inning and advanced to third on a double steal. The Albuquerque right fielder came across to score on a fielder's choice putting the Isotopes up 4-1. Moore later crushed a three-run homer to right-center in the fourth for his third of the season.

Benches cleared after an inside pitch nearly hit shortstop Justin Sellers following Moore's home run in the fourth. Sellers, Moore, Dee Gordon, Aaron Laffey and Rusty Ryal (both who did not play) along with manager Lorenzo Bundy were ejected as a result on the Isotopes. Pitcher Jorge Rondon, catcher Rob Johnson, pitcher Mitchell Boggs (who did not play) and manager Pop Warner were ejected on the Redbirds side.

Brock Peterson played a big role in the Memphis offense blasting his second home run in as many games into left field to lead off the second inning. Peterson homered again as part of a five-run fifth scoring three runs slicing the Albuquerque lead to 8-7.

Memphis tied the game at eight in the sixth before Albuquerque pulled away with five runs in the eighth on an Elian Herrera go-ahead walk and five Memphis errors. Marc Rzepczynski (0-2, 2.70) suffered the loss. He went two innings allowing five runs but none were earned. At four hours and nine minutes, it was the longest nine-inning game in franchise history (including the 25-minute on-field delay).

The Isotopes and Redbirds will do it again tomorrow June 16 at 6:05 PM MDT. Albuquerque will send righty Red Patterson (3-1, 4.09) to the hill against right-handed Boone Whiting (4-1, 2.70) of Memphis. Listen to all the action on 610 AM "The Sports Animal" with Josh Suchon on the call.
