Memphis Redbirds News Release

Albuquerque, NM - The Albuquerque Isotopes rallied from an early deficit as they sent the Memphis Redbirds to a fourth consecutive loss with a 12-5 win at Isotopes Park. The loss also dropped Memphis below .500 for the first time since April 12 (3-4). The Redbirds are now 2-9 against the 'Topes.

The Redbirds took a 3-0 lead to the bottom of the second inning and saw it disappear in a hurry. Albuquerque scored twice in the inning and grabbed the lead for good with a 4-run fourth. Justin Sellers' two-run triple gave the 'Topes a 5-3 lead and former Redbird Brian Barden added a run-scoring single for a 6-3 advantage.

It was all downhill from there for the Redbirds. Nine different Isotopes hit safely in the game, seven of them producing multi-hit performances. Sellers and Matt Angle each had three hits three runs batted in. Chili Buss added two hits, including a two-run homer off Victor Marte in the eighth. Albuquerque finished the night with eighteen hits. They also have scored twenty-five runs in the last two games.

Kolten Wong led the Redbirds with three hits while Jamie Romak contributed two hits. He hit a solo homer in the second, his thirteenth of the season.

Red Patterson (4-1) got a spot start for Albuquerque and worked into the sixth inning before turning it over to the bullpen. It was his second win over Memphis this season.

Boone Whiting (4-2) took the loss. He lasted just four innings, allowing eight runs, six earned, on ten hits. Both losses have come against the Isotopes.

Albuquerque manager Lorenzo Bundy was ejected in the first inning after arguing a play at the plate. He has been tossed out in two consecutive games. That brings the total ejections the past two nights to eleven.

The teams will conclude their four-game series on Monday night with right-hander Carlos Martinez (1-0, 1.56) taking the hill for the Redbirds. Albuquerque will counter with southpaw Aaron Laffey (2-3, 6.12).
