
Rainiers Shut Down At Sacramento, 6-3

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Stefen Romero collected two hits and drove in the three runs as the Tacoma Rainiers fell to the Sacramento River Cats 6-3 at Raley Field on Sunday.
Romero erased Tacoma's 1-0 deficit with triple that scored Brandon Bantz and Robert Andino with one out in the top of the third inning. The outfielder later cut a 4-2 River Cats advantage to one run after driving in Brad Miller with a double in the sixth.
The Rainiers tallied a total of eight hits in the contest. Outfielder Carlos Peguero turned in Tacoma's only other multi-hit effort after going 2-for-3. Peguero singled in the second inning and then tacked on another single in the sixth.
Miller also singled in the sixth to extend his hitting streak to a team-high 16 games. The shortstop is now batting .377 (26x69) with seven extra-base hits and 22 RBI since May 29.
Dustin Ackley ended the day 0-for-4 and saw his hitting streak come to a close at 16 games. Ackley had batted .435 (30x69) with five doubles, two home runs and 11 RBI since the streak began on May 25. He is now batting .390 since being optioned to Tacoma from Seattle on May 28.
Starter Brian Sweeney (7-2) was dealt his first loss since May 17 after surrendering three runs, one earned, on three hits over 4.1 innings. The right-hander struck out three and walked a season-high six batters in his 20th appearance and seventh start this season.
The Rainiers (42-29) play the fourth and final game of the team's four-game series at the River Cats (40-30) at 7:05 p.m. tomorrow, June 17. Left-hander James Paxton (3-5, 5.70) is slated to start for Tacoma in the series finale against River Cats left-hander Andrew Werner (6-8, 5.42).
