
Albuquerque Sweeps Double Dip

The Isotopes (50-40) used strong offense to claim game one, 10-3 today before shutting Iowa (45-45) out in game two 1-0. Albuquerque set the second highest attendance mark is Isotopes franchise history for three consecutive games with 39,080 fans flocking to Isotopes Park over the last three contests combined. The attendance for yesterday's suspended game was 10,828 and totaled 12,023 for tonight's regularly scheduled game.
A trio of Isotopes exploded offensively in the completion of yesterday's suspended game. Centerfielder Matt Angle (3-for-5, 2 R) doubled three times matching the season high and left fielder Alex Castellanos (3-for-4, 3 R, 2 RBI) doubled twice. The pair, along with Rusty Ryal (3-for-4, 2 R, 2B, 2 RBI) combined for nine of the team's 11 hits. Albuquerque established a 2013 team season high with seven double baggers in the game.
Lefty Jonathan Sanchez went two innings prior to the game's suspension allowing one run, unearned, on one hit. Sean White (3-4, 3.30) picked up where Sanchez left off tossing three scoreless innings giving up two hits while striking out three.
Anthony Ortega allowed a run in his inning of work and southpaw Kelvin De La Cruz tossed three innings of one-hit ball picking up his sixth save of the season. He surrendered four hits, walked two and struck out four.
The Isotopes took advantage of a bases loaded with nobody out situation in the bottom of the second trailing 1-0. Catcher John Baker drove Brian Barden in to tie the score at one.
Doubles by Matt Angle and Alex Castellanos put the Isotopes in front 2- 1 in the third. Angle also stole in 16th base of the season in the third frame good for second on the 2013 Isotopes.
Albuquerque picked up five more over the next four innings highlighted by Alex Castellanos' 11th home run of the season, his second in as many games. Angle, Castellanos and Ryal reached base safely and scored in Albuquerque's eighth as the club tacked on three more.
Esmailin Caridad (3-3, 5.40) took the loss allowing two runs, one earned, over three innings.
Angel Castro (5-2, 3.09) cruised in Saturday's regularly scheduled game, earning the win. He did not allow a run through his five innings of work walking three and striking out two. Red Patterson came in a tossed a scoreless sixth giving up one hit.
Javy Guerra collected his second save of the season, firing a scoreless seventh for Albuquerque while Barret Loux (4-3, 4.25) suffered the loss for Iowa going six frames allowing one run on four hits.
Ian Stewart (2-for-3, R) doubled in his second at bat of Isotopes debut in the fourth inning and came around to score the game's only on a Rusty Ryal sacrifice fly. The left-handed infielder joined Albuquerque today, July 6, after signing with the Dodgers as a free agent.
The series finale between Albuquerque and Iowa is slated for tomorrow, July 7, at 6:05 PM MDT. Southpaw Rob Rasmussen (0-2, 7.77) will take the hill for the Isotopes against Iowa's righty Guillermo Moscoso (5-5, 4.63).
