Manny Ramirez Scheduled to Make Round Rock Express Debut Sunday

ROUND ROCK, Texas - Round Rock Express announced today that newly signed designated hitter Manny Ramirez is expected to be in the starting lineup when the team hosts the Omaha Storm Chasers at Dell Diamond on Sunday, July 7. Ramirez will continue to work out with the team Saturday and will be activated in time for the 7:05 p.m. Sunday game.

The 41-year-old Ramirez was signed to a minor league contract by the Texas Rangers on Wednesday, July 3 and assigned to the Express. He reported to Round Rock on Thursday and has worked out with the team the previous two days. If he makes his debut as scheduled tomorrow night, it will be his first time in an American professional baseball lineup since June 14, 2012 as a member of the Sacramento River Cats (Triple-A, Oakland).

The Express continues the four-game series with the Omaha Storm Chasers tonight at 7:05 p.m. Rangers RHP Alexi Ogando is on the mound for his first rehab appearance with the Express.
