Salt Lake Bees News Release

The Bees had hoped for the team's 10th consecutive home win on Friday night, but the Tacoma Rainiers broke Salt Lake's streak in a 7-5 defeat. The Rainiers started off the scoring in the second inning with Nate Tenbrink's RBI triple and extended their lead in the third inning as Stefan Romero hit a two-RBI single followed by a two-run homer by Chris Pegeuro. Ty Kelly hit his own two-run homer in the fourth.

The Bees answered back with a RBI single by John Hester in the fourth and a RBI double by Kole Calhoun in the fifth, then rallied their way to within two in the sixth on a two-run homer by Tommy Field and a RBI-single by Efren Navarro, who extended his hitting streak to 13 games with two hits tonight, but that would be the end of scoring for the Bees. Barry Enright took the loss, giving up nine hits, walking four and striking out one in four innings pitched.

"We played the game for nine innings, we always talk about playing the game for nine innings, not the score," said Bees manager Keith Johnson. "We just weren't quite able to get that hit to get us back over the top."
