Akron RubberDucks News Release
AKRON -- The Akron Aeros (34-25) dropped the series opener to the Portland Sea Dogs (28-26), 7-1 on Friday night at Canal Park. Cleveland Indians starter Jake Westbrook made his second rehab start of the season as he recovers from a abdominal strain. Against the Sea Dogs, he lasted just two and 2/3 innings, giving up four runs - all in the first inning. He stuck out one and walked three for the loss.
Akron managed just one run on five hits against the Portland pitching staff, including an RBI-double by Jordan Brown. Jon Van Every extended his hitting streak to 14-straight games with a infield single in the sixth. The hitting streak is the longest for the Aeros this season as Van Every surpassed the 13-game hitting streak Asdrubal Cabrera started the season with.
Akron and Portland will continue the series on Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. as Joe Ness will take the mound for Akron against Michael Bowden at Canal Park.
