New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release

Erie, PA- Rob Cosby's three-run home run was the RELCO Enlightening Play of the Game, and it highlighted a six-run first inning as the New Hampshire Fisher Cats topped the Erie SeaWolves, 8-4, Friday night at Jerry Uht Park in the opening game of a three-game series. It was the second straight night the Fisher Cats scored six runs in an inning, matching a season high.

New Hampshire (30-27) had eight straight men reach safely in the top of the first against Dallas Trahern, who entered the game as the Eastern League leader with eight victories.

Robinzon Diaz (2-for-5, 2 R) had an infield single and Dustin Majewski walked before Cosby drilled a 3-2 pitch over the left-centerfield wall for his fifth home run of the season and fourth of the road trip. It also gave the third baseman eight RBI over the last two games.

Chip Cannon (2-for-5, RBI, R) and Ryan Patterson (2-for-4, R) followed Cosby's home run with consecutive singles. David Smith (1-for-3, 2 R, HBP) was hit by a pitch, Ryan Klosterman (2-for-3, RBI) drove in the fourth run of the inning with a single up the middle and Juan Peralta (1-for-4, 2 RBI) capped the inning with a two-run single to left field.

Cannon added an RBI double in the second inning against Trahern (8-2), who allowed eight runs on 12 hits in 5.2 innings. He struck out five and walked one.

Jesse Litsch (6-2) earned the win despite yielding a season-high four runs on 12 hits. HE struck out seven and walked two.

Tracy Thorpe struck out three batters over 1.2 hitless innings, and Jesse Carlson struck out a season-high four batters over two shutout innings to finish off the win.

Mike Holliman went 4-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI and a run scored for Erie (31-27), which will look to avoid losing its first home series of the season Saturday night at 7:05pm by sending right-hander Jeff Gerbe (0-0, 0.00) to the mound in his Eastern League debut against New Hampshire left-hander Kurt Isenberg (1-2, 4.75).
