Kansas City Monarchs News Release
KANSAS CITY, Kan. - A seven-run second was too much for the Kansas City T-Bones (39-42) to overcome as they fell 8-0 to the Grand Prairie AirHogs (51-30) on Tuesday night at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.
With 4,324 on hand, the AirHogs chased Matt Mitchell (2-5) early in the decisive second inning after scoring seven runs on seven hits and two errors. The first six batters all reached safely before the first out of the inning while a three-run home run by David Thomas and a two-run double from Stephen Douglas highlighted the attack. T.J. Large entered with two on and induced two groundouts to end the inning.
Mitchell suffered the loss after allowing seven runs, six earned, on seven hits over one and one-third innings. Large finished the game for Kansas City, allowing just one unearned run while scattering eight hits over seven and two-third innings.
Jason Jennings (9-1) allowed just three hits over six scoreless innings to earn the victory for Grand Prairie. He retired nine in a row at one point and 13 of his first 15 batters. Kansas City managed just six singles in the contest.
The T-Bones send Devin Anderson (6-6, 5.29) to the mound opposite Lance Janke (3-2, 7.13) and Grand Prairie on Wednesday night. First pitch is set for 7:05. On Wednesday nights fans can purchase the Family 4-Pack Special courtesy of The Kansas City Star.
