Grand Prairie AirHogs News Release

LINCOLN, Neb. -- The Lincoln Saltdogs held a 3-0 lead when rains stopped Saturday's game in the bottom of the third. Resuming on Sunday afternoon, Jason Moody got the final out of the bottom of the third, but allowed a solo home run to Jeff Howell leading off the fourth to give the Saltdogs a 4-0 lead. But from that point on the Grand Prairie AirHogs scored 10 of the final 12 runs, as they flipped the game around to win 10-6 at Haymarket Park.

The comeback began in the fifth off Alex Maestri, who was the first pitcher to take the hill on Sunday in relief of Saturday's starter Jino Gonzalez. Maestri stranded two runners in the fourth, but he lost his control in the fifth, walking the bases loaded with two outs. The righty hit Joey Gomes to force in a run, before John Alonso's two-run single and David Thomas's two-run double gave the AirHogs (50-28) the lead.

Moody (1-1) gave up another leadoff homer in the fifth, as Phil Hawke launched a ball down the rightfield line to tie the game at 5-5. But Grand Prairie came right back against Jordan Stern (1-3) in the sixth, with a leadoff single by Danny Figueroa and an RBI double by Stephen Douglas to give the AirHogs the lead for good - and extend Douglas's league-record hitting streak to 34.

Bo Schultz relieved Moody in the sixth and went the final four innings for his first save of the year, working out of a bases-loaded, no-out jam in the seventh with only one unearned run allowed, and facing the minimum three batters in the other three frames.

Stern also went the rest of the way for Lincoln (38-40), but he allowed three more runs, including an Alonso homer on the first pitch of the seventh.

Notes: All nine Saltdogs had at least one hit and two had two...Four AirHogs had multi-hit games, led by Alonso's three...All seven of Alonso's home runs have been on the road...Schultz's two perfect frames were the only two put up on Sunday, while Gonzalez had one in the second inning on Saturday night...The AirHogs finished with five walks and two hit batsmen drawn against the two Lincoln pitchers in six innings on Sunday.

The two teams will play Sunday's regularly scheduled game at 6 p.m. Per American Association rules, the game will be seven innings. The next AirHogs home game at QuikTrip Park is Friday, August 12, for Faith and Family Night, featuring a postgame concert and testimonies of praise from former and current athletes. The game begins at 6:05 p.m. All games are available with live, free streaming video on ustream.tv.
