Sioux Falls 11, Fargo-Moorhead 0 (Game 1 - Completion of Suspended Game from August 6)
Rain halted play on Saturday with the visiting Sioux Falls Pheasants leading Fargo-Moorhead 4-0 in the bottom of the fourth. When play resumed today, the Pheasants proceeded to plate seven unanswered runs en route to an 11-0 victory. Sioux Falls CF Reggie Abercrombie led the Pheasants with three RBIs. Abercrombie doubled twice and scored a run. Pheasants RF Gus Milner went 4-for-6 with two RBIs and two runs scored, C Henry Contreras batted in two runs, and DH Mark Shorey hit a solo home run in the game. Sioux Falls reliever Brandon Rapoza pitched 5.2 shutout innings in relief to earn the win.
Sioux Falls 4, Fargo-Moorhead 0 (Game 2 - Regularly Scheduled/7 Innings)
Sioux Falls starting pitcher Ben Moore continued his dominance on the mound this season, pitching seven shutout innings to help lead the Pheasants to a 4-0 win over the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks in the regularly scheduled game. Moore allowed just three hits while striking out six batters. Moore leads the American Association in strikeouts (115) and lowest ERA (2.41). Pheasants 1B Brandon Sing went 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI, and LF Francisco Leandro went 2-for-4 with a triple, an RBI and a run scored. Second baseman Hunter Jobes also batted in a run for Sioux Falls. RedHawks 2B Carlo Cota went 1-for-3 with a double in the loss.
St. Paul 5, Winnipeg 3
The St. Paul Saints broke a 3-3 tie by scoring two runs in the bottom of the eighth as they defeated the Winnipeg Goldeyes 5-3. St. Paul SS Steve Mays led the Saints with two RBIs and went 1-for-3 at the plate. Right fielder Argelis Nunez went 1-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI for the Saints, and CF Jonathan Van Every also went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Catcher Alex Garabedian was the only Saints batter to have two hits and also drove in a run. Saints relief pitcher Tyler Walker pitched 1.2 scoreless innings to earn the win, allowing just one hit during his appearance. Goldeyes 1B Luis Alen hit a two-run home run in the loss.
Gary SouthShore 10, Kansas City 6
The Gary SouthShore RailCats defeated the visiting Kansas City T-Bones 10-6 in front of a crowd of 2,844 at U.S. Steel Yard. The RailCats built an early lead with three runs in the bottom of the first, and later had another three-run inning in the sixth frame. RailCats CF Mike Massaro had a team-high three RBIs in the game and had two doubles and a triple. Designated hitter Cristian Guerrero drove in two runs in the game with a two-run homer in the bottom of the first, and 2B Brad Boyer went 3-for-5 at the plate with two RBIs, a run scored and a double. Gary SouthShore relief pitcher Will Krout was credited with the win for his one run allowed in 3.1 innings pitched. For the T-Bones, 3B Rico Washington had a home run and two RBIs in a losing effort.
Grand Prairie 10, Lincoln 6 (Game 1 - Completion of Suspended Game from August 6)
When rain halted play Saturday in the bottom of the third, Lincoln led 3-0, but when play resumed today, the Grand Prairie AirHogs rallied to take the win by a final score of 10-6. AirHogs 1B John Alonso had three RBIs in the game and went 3-for-5 at the plate with a solo home run. Left fielder David Thomas doubled twice and batted in two runs, and DH Joey Gomes drove in two runs for Grand Prairie. AirHogs relief pitcher Jason Moody was credited with the win despite allowing two earned runs in 2.1 innings pitched. Bo Schultz pitched four innings and allowed just one unearned run to record the save for the AirHogs. For the Saltdogs, 1B Phil Hawke went 2-for-4 with a home run in the loss.
