Gary South Shore 7, Kansas City 6
After jumping ahead early and holding a 7-2 lead after seven innings, the Railcats withstood a late rally by Kansas City and defeated the T-Bones by a final of 7-6. LF Adam Klein led the way offensively for Gary South Shore as he doubled and drove in three as part of a 3-for-5 night at the plate. CF Aharon Eggleston finished 3-for-3 with a walk and two RBI for Kansas City. The Railcats tallied 14 hits in all. After two Gary pitchers surrendered four runs in the top of the eighth inning, reliever Travis Minix calmed things down by striking out three in the final 1.2 innings of the contest.
Sioux City 7, Wichita 4
Sioux City used a big fifth inning to overcome an early deficit and defeat Wichita by a final of 7-4. The Explorers scored six times in the fifth, chasing Wingnuts starter Chad Sherman from the contest after just 4.1 innings of work. Sioux City got contributions from up and down their lineup as six different players recorded at least one RBI in the game. The first five hitters in the Explorers batting order combined to go 11-for-24 in the contest. Starter Nick Schumacher gave another strong performance as he struck out eight in eight innings of work. He got the win and improved his record to 8-4.
Winnipeg 4, St. Paul 3
Winnipeg cashed in on just enough chances to down St. Paul by a final of 4-3. The Goldeyes scored single runs in four separate frames and despite leaving a dozen men on base, held off a late rally to claim the win. Saints CF Jonathan Van Every homered to lead off the bottom of the ninth, drawing St. Paul within one, but Winnipeg reliever Jamie Vermilyea worked around that longball and a double by Saints SS Adam Frost to get the final two outs of the ballgame. Isaac Hess started and went 5.1 innings for Winnipeg to pick up the win and move his record to 5-3.

Amarillo 8, Shreveport - Bossier 6 (Game 1 - 8 Innings)
In the first game of a doubleheader, Amarillo overcame an early 4-0 deficit and staged a late rally to top Shreveport-Bossier by the count of 8-6. Trailing 6-5 entering the top of the seventh, the Sox strung together three singles to plate a run off reliever Hector Carrasco. After Sox reliever Chad Povich retired the Captains in order in the bottom of the inning Amarillo RF Tim Alberts led off the eighth with a single. Sox C Josh Banda then homered off Carrasco to give Amarillo their first lead. Povich allowed a base runner in the home half of the eighth but shut the door to earn the win and improve his record to 5-2.
Shreveport - Bossier 4, Amarillo 3 (Game 2 - 7 Innings)
The second game, Shreveport - Bossier fell behind early but rallied for a 4-3 victory. Captains starter Mark Haynes ran into control issues in the second inning as he walked the bases loaded, which eventually led to two runs for Amarillo. While their offense chipped away at the deficit, the Captains brought in Lee Henry who allowed just one hit in four innings. 3B Mike Provenchar tripled in the third to even the game 2-2 before the Captains added two more in the fourth. Without the free passes Amarillo's offense went cold. The Sox had just one base runner in the final three innings and finished the game with just one hit.
El Paso 11, Ft. Worth 9
In a back-and-forth affair at Cohen Stadum, El Paso scored five runs in the bottom of the eighth to get past Ft. Worth by a final of 11-9. SS and leadoff hitter Maikol Gonzalez propelled the Diablos offense with four hits in five at-bats. He scored three times and drove in two while LF Brian Joynt added three hits, two runs scored, and a RBI. CF Ryan Patterson homered and drove in three for the Cats. DH John Allen also went deep and finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI. A run was scored in every inning except the seventh and the teams capitalized on nearly every scoring chance, with Ft. Worth leaving just four men on base and El Paso leaving five.
