Akron RubberDucks News Release

AKRON, OH - Aeros starter Steven Wright allowed just one run over six innings, and DH Adam Abraham had a two run triple to highlight a 4-3 victory over the Bowie Baysox Wednesday night at Canal Park.

The Aeros (8-4) took two of three games versus the Baysox (5-9), and went 5-2 during the first homestand of the season.

Abraham's two-run triple off Bowie starter Cole McCurry (0-2) broke a scoreless tie in the fifth. It came with one out in the inning and chased home Davis Stoneburner and Chun Chen. It also was the final hitter McCurry faced.

Abraham scored to make it 3-0, when Ryan Rohlinger lifted a sacrifice fly to right off Pedro Viola.

Wright (2-1) continued his strong start to the season, working through six innings, scattering four hits and one run. He walked four and fanned seven. Wright, who relies primarily on the knuckleball, allowed his only run in the sixth on a walk, steal, error, and wild pitch. Wright has now allowed only three runs in 17 1/3 innings on the year.

Bowie pulled within 3-2, in the seventh, but an RBI single by Kyle Bellows in bottom of the seventh made it 4-2, Akron. After a home run by Bowie's Caleb Joseph made it 4-3 in the eighth, Aeros closer Preston Guilmet turned in a perfect ninth for his second save.

Bellows and Chun Chen had three hits apiece. Jared Goedert went 3-5, to extend his hitting streak to nine games.

With the win, the Aeros remain in first place in the Eastern League Western Division.

After the game, the Aeros announced that righthander Toru Murata has been promoted to triple-A Columbus. Murata was 0-0, 3.38 in three appearances with the Aeros.

Following an off-day Thursday, the Aeros will hit the road on Friday for the start of a six-game road trip to Reading (PA), and Bowie (MD). The Cleveland Indians announced during Wednesday's game that lefty David Huff will make a major league rehab start for the Aeros in Friday's series opener against Reading at 7:05 PM. The R-Phils will counter with RH Julio Rodriguez (1-0, 2.45). The game broadcast begins at 6:50 p.m. on Fox Sports 1350 AM and online at www.akronaeros.com.
