Aerodynamics...

Twice as Nice...The Aeros scored a pair of victories over the visiting Sea Dogs yesterday, coming from behind to score a 4-2 win in the conclusion of Friday's suspended game before blowing out Portland 12-2 in the nightcap. Akron ran its winning streak to 10 games, and a win today would tie the franchise record set back in 2002. This current streak is tied for the second-longest in franchise history, last set June 3rd-14th of 2006.

Hawaiian Punch...RF Bronson Sardinha was the catalyst in the first game last night, driving in three of Akron's four runs with a game-tying homer in the sixth and a sacrifice fly in the eighth. The native of Kailua, HI has collected a whopping 20 RBI in just 17 games for the purple and black, and has now successfully reached base in 16 straight games after going 0-4 in his Aeros debut May 27th at Harrisburg. Not to be outdone, teammate Josh Rodriguez is currently enjoy an 18-game on-base streak, and C Chris Gimenez got aboard in 26 straight contests from May 10th-June 12th. Portland outfielder Zach Daeges holds the longest on-base streak in the Eastern League this season, reaching in 32 straight games from April 9th-June 2nd.

Fourth Time's the Charm...Akron broke yesterday's nightcap wide open with seven runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, marking the fourth time this year the Aeros have hung seven runs in an inning. CF Jose Constanza began the inning innocently enough with a pop-up, but the next eight hitters all reached base on three walks, three hits, and a pair of two-run throwing errors by Sea Dogs third baseman Ryan Khoury, who endured an absolutely wretched night. It was the first time Akron had scored seven runs in an inning since May 5th, when a seven-spot in the bottom of the eighth turned a 4-2 deficit into a 9-4 win at home against Altoona.

Roster Move...The Aeros made a roster move between games of the doubleheader last night, recalling RHP Frank Herrmann from Class A Mahoning Valley and placing struggling LHP Chuck Lofgren on the temporary inactive list. Herrmann responded by turning in his fifth quality start of the season in game two, limiting Portland to just two runs in six innings while claiming his team-leading sixth win of the year. Akron also improved to 8-4 in Herrmann's dozen starts on the season.

Fun With Numbers...The numbers from this 10-game winning streak are pretty staggering. Some highlights: The Aeros have won two one-run games and two two-run games over the streak but are also outscoring opponents by more than a two-to-one margin at 84-41 over the 10 games. The Aeros are hitting .355 as a team while averaging 12.7 hits per game, have 30 extra-base hits, and have walked 56 times against only 55 strikeouts. On the hill, Akron hurlers have compiled a 4.09 ERA and have exhibited exemplary command with 65 strikeouts and only 23 walks in 88 innings (a 2.82:1 ratio of Ks to walks).
