Harrisburg Senators News Release
Bowie, MD - The Harrisburg Senators didn't get their first hit until the 6th inning and mustered just two hits in a 5-2 loss to the Bowie Baysox on Sunday. Mike Daniel's two-run homer accounted for the only Harrisburg runs. Bowie took two out of three in the series.
The Baysox touched Harrisburg LHP Mike Hinckley for a run in the bottom of the 1st. Carlos Rojas singled up the middle and Lou Montanez walked with one out. Jeff Nettles followed with an RBI single to right to give the Baysox an early 1-0 lead. A groundout and a strikeout ended the frame with no further damage.
Bowie extended the advantage in the bottom of the 3rd. The Baysox loaded the bases with nobody out, but Hinckley struck out Nolan Reimold for the first out. Mike Rodriguez followed with a bloop two-run double to right to make it 3-0 Bowie. Hinckley again worked out of trouble with two more strikeouts to end the inning.
It was more Baysox in the bottom of the bottom of the 6th. Bowie loaded the bases with nobody out against LHP Yunior Novoa on a hit and two walks. A double-play groundout plated a run to push the lead to 4-0. Then, a wild pitch allowed Jonathan Tucker to race home when Novoa didn't cover the plate, and it was 5-0.
Meanwhile, Bowie starter David Hernandez took a no-hitter into the 6th inning. He walked five in six scoreless innings. The Senators finally got on the board in the top of the 7th when Daniel blasted a two-run homer to right-center to cut the deficit to 5-2.
Hernandez (5-1) picked up the win for the Baysox. Hinckley took the loss to fall to 2-2. RHP Julio Manon worked a scoreless 9th inning to notch his 17th save.
The Senators dipped to 37-30. The Baysox upped their record to 41-27.
The Senators have Monday off before starting a six-game homestand Tuesday at Commerce Bank Park. Game time Tuesday against the Trenton Thunder is set for 6:35 PM.
