Aeros Drop Fourth Straight at Home

AKRON -- The Akron Aeros returned home after starting the second half of the season with a four-game split at Altoona, by dropping its fourth-straight home game to Harrisburg, 7-4. The losing streak dates back to a three-game sweep at the hands of Erie before the All-Star break.

The Senators jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second inning capped by a two-run double by Ofilio Castro. Harrisburg doubled its lead with three more in the fourth before Akron finally put a run on the board in the bottom half of the frame, coming on a solo-home run by Michael Aubrey.

Shawn Nottingham went six innings, giving up seven runs (six earned) on ten hits. He struck out four and walked two, falling to 7-7 on the season.

The Aeros scored three in the bottom of the eighth, capped by a two-run single by Ryan Goleski. In the ninth, Akron had the tying run in Jordan Brown at the plate with two outs, but Akron could not manage to score.

Beltran Perez went six innings allowing one run on six hits. He struck out one and walked two for the victory.

Asdrubal Cabrera went 0-for-4 on the afternoon. It is only the 13th time this season that Cabrera has had three or more at-bats and not recorded a hit on the season. He is now 0-10 in his last three games, but still holds a .320 batting average on the season
