Michael Devaney allowed one hit over six shutout innings for the Binghamton Mets, who defeated the Trenton Thunder 3-1 at Waterfront Park Monday. The win is Binghamton's fourth straight.

The B-Mets (41-51) got on the board in the third. After Rafael Arroyo started the frame with a double and Corey Coles bunted for a hit, Jeff Marquez walked Miguel Negron to load the bases with no outs. Mark Kiger and Mike Carp followed with sacrifice flies, scoring Arroyo and Coles, respectively, for a 2-0 B-Mets lead.

Binghamton tacked on another against Marquez (9-6) in the fifth. Carp started the rally with a two-out single before Brett Harper followed suit. Caleb Stewart then lined a base hit to center, bringing in Carp with the B-Mets' third run.

Devaney (4-7) didn't allow a hit until P.J. Pilittere's leadoff single in the sixth. He was followed by Salvador Aguilar who gave up two-out singles to Gabe Lopez and Colin Curtis in the eighth before Carlos Muñiz allowed a base hit to Alberto Gonzalez, scoring Lopez with Trenton's only run. However, Muñiz would hold on for his 19th save in 22 chances.

Tuesday, the Binghamton Mets play the second game of their three-game series in Trenton. Bobby Parnell (1-2, 3.40) will start for the B-Mets against Jeff Karstens (NR) of Trenton. Game time is 7:05 from Waterfront Park with the radio broadcast starting at 6:50 on Newsradio 1290 WNBF.

Notes: Binghamton's 8-6 in their 14 games in July, all of which have been decided by two runs or fewer...B-Mets starting pitchers have allowed 3 ER in their last six games, throwing 37 2/3 innings over that span (0.72 ERA).
