WE MEET AGAIN: The Portland Sea Dogs open up an eight-game roadtrip in seven days, taking on the New Hampshire Fisher Cats in game one of a 3-game set...Portland has played 11 of their previous 22 games against the âCats...The Sea Dogs trail the Fisher Cats by a game and ½ for the second playoff spot in the Eastern League's Northern Division.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: Justin Masterson (2-0) earned his 2nd win in as many starts yesterday as the Dogs squeaked by the Rock Cats 3-1...Masterson fired 6 shutout innings, allowing 3 hits and striking out seven batters...The Sea Dogs took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 3rd when Bubba Bell tripled and came home on a wild pitch to the next batter...The Dogs got two more in the 7th, including the game winning RBI by Byran Pritz. Chad Spann doubled to start the 7th inning, Jeff Natale walked, and then Cory Keylor put down a beautiful sacrifice bunt. After the RBI base hit by Pritz, John Otness lifted a sacrifice fly that scored Natale...The bullpen was once again spectacular as Hunter Jones fired two scoreless innings, and Mike James pitched the 9th to collec his 16th save of the year. For James, it was his 10th consecutive save.
NO, NOT THESE 'CATS...THE ROCK CATS: With Saturday's win, Portland is now 6-6 on the season against the Rock Cats...The Dogs took their first series of the season against New Britain and their first series sweep since May 25-28 against Reading at Hadlock Field...This season, Portland is 15-15 against both teams with the name âCats (9-9 vs. NHF, 6-6 vs. NBR).
