Milwaukee Admirals News Release

The Milwaukee Admirals, in conjunction with the American Hockey League, announced their schedule format as well as the Divisional Alignment for the 2005-06 season. The format and divisional alignment were approved at the AHL Board of Governors' annual meeting at Amelia Island, FL.

The Admirals will continue to do battle in the West Division of the Western Conference, however the look of the Division has changed dramatically. Gone from the West Division are familiar foes Grand Rapids, Utah, and Cincinnati. Those teams are replaced with the Iowa Stars (Dallas Stars), the Peoria Riverman (St. Louis Blues), and the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights (Calgary Flames). The Chicago Wolves, Houston Aeros, and San Antonio Rampage round out the remaining teams in the West Division.

Milwaukee will play all of their games versus the Western Conference, including 54 of 80 games against the West Division. The Ads will take on the Wolves, Stars, and Knights a total of ten times (five home, five road) this season to mark their most frequent foes. Five other clubs, Cleveland, Grand Rapids, Houston, Peoria, and San Antonio will appear eight times on the Admirals' schedule. Manitoba is scheduled four times for the Ads, while Hamilton, Rochester, and Toronto will do battle with the Ads twice each.

The format for the 2006 Calder Cup Playoffs was also changed slightly. The top four teams in each division will qualify for the playoffs, which is the same as last season. However, if the fifth-place team in one division has more points than the fourth place team in the other division of the same conference then the fifth place team would cross over to the other division and play as the fourth seeded team in that division.

For example, if the fifth-place team in the West Division finishes with more points that the four place team in the North Division, then the fifth-place team from the West would cross over and compete in the North Division playoffs.

Season ticket packages are now on sale for the 2005-06 season. Fans looking to purchase season tickets or for more information can call the Admirals office at (414) 227-0550.
