
Bears announce 2005-06 schedule

HERSHEY - The HERSHEY BEARS announced today in conjunction with the American Hockey League the schedule of opponents for the 2005-06 season. The announcement was made today by BEARS President/GM Doug Yingst.
In addition to East Division games against Philadelphia (six home/six away), Wilkes-Barre (five/five), Bridgeport (four/four), Binghamton (four/four) and Norfolk (five/five), the BEARS will face off with the Hamilton Bulldogs (one/one) for the first time since the 2001-02 season. HERSHEY'S opponent in the 1996-97 Calder Cup Finals will visit GIANT Center for the first time during 2005-06. The BEARS will also face the first-year Toronto Marlies, with one game to be played at Ricoh Coliseum in Toronto and one game along HERSHEYPARK Drive. Also back on the schedule for 2005-06: the defending Western Conference champion Chicago Wolves (one/one), the Cleveland Barons (one/one) and the Grand Rapids Griffins (one/one).
HERSHEY will also face the entire Atlantic Division, with games against the Portland Pirates (two/two), Manchester Monarchs (one/one), Providence Bruins (one/one), Lowell Lock Monsters (one/one), Hartford Wolf Pack (one/one), and the Springfield Falcons (one/one). Newly moved to the Atlantic Division under the AHL's new divisional alignment, the BEARS will still face the Albany River Rats (two/two) in 2005-06. HERSHEY will also face the Syracuse Crunch (one/one) and the Rochester Americans (one/one) under the format released today.
The new East Division alignment will feature six teams vying for the F.G. (Teddy) Oke Trophy, the award given to the 2005-06 East Division champion. Binghamton, Bridgeport, Norfolk, Philadelphia, Wilkes-Barre and HERSHEY will comprise the division makeup for this upcoming season.
Season tickets for the 2005-06 season are on sale now by calling (717) 508-BEAR. The BEARS will open the home portion of the 2005-06 season on Saturday, October 15 at GIANT Center at 7:00 p.m. HERSHEY BEARS Prospect Camp will be held from July 10-15 at GIANT Center, with an open practice session to the public on Thursday, July 14 at 7:00 p.m. Admission and parking are free for the event.
