Hershey Bears News Release
HERSHEY - The HERSHEY BEARS announced today that WQIC-FM (100.1) will serve as the team's new flagship radio station for 2005-06. The announcement was made jointly by BEARS President/GM Doug Yingst and WQIC-FM Vice President Robert Etter.
The multi-year agreement puts the BEARS back on the FM dial for the first time since the end of the 2003-04 season. WQIC-FM is based in Lebanon, PA, with a signal that can be heard in a 50-mile radius around Lebanon County.
"We are very excited to have WQIC on board as our new flagship for all BEARS broadcasts", said BEARS President/GM Doug Yingst. "Finding a radio home on FM was one of our top priorities this summer, and we couldn't be happier to partner with a station right in the middle of BEARS country."
"WQIC is very pleased to be working with an organization that has the longevity and respect the HERSHEY BEARS have in our community", said WQIC-FM Vice President Robert Etter. "Hopefully this is the first of many years that WQIC-FM and the BEARS will be linked together."
"We knew that our fan base wanted to be able to hear the games on a strong FM signal, and we are thrilled to be able to provide that once again," said BEARS play-by-play broadcaster John Walton. "We're looking forward to another great season with a powerful broadcast partner on board with us."
HERSHEY plans to unveil the new BEARS radio network later this summer as the club looks to add other radio outlets to complement its new flagship.
Season tickets for the 2005-06 season are on sale now by calling (717) 508-BEAR. The BEARS will open the home portion of the 2005-06 season on Saturday, October 15 at GIANT Center at 7:00 p.m. HERSHEY BEARS Prospect Camp will be held from July 10-15 at GIANT Center, with an open practice session to the public on Thursday, July 14 at 7:00 p.m. Admission and parking are free for the event.
