Albany Devils News Release

Lowell, MA - American Hockey League President and CEO David Andrews made several announcements today from the AHL Board of Governors' annual meeting at Amelia Island, Fla.

First, the Board has approved the conference and division alignment and playoff plan for the 2005-06 season. The Lock Monsters will remain in the Atlantic Division, and will be joined by Albany, Hartford, Manchester, Portland, Providence & Springfield. The East Division is comprised of Binghamton, Bridgeport, Hershey, Norfolk, Philadelphia and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Realignment in the Western Conference puts Chicago, Houston, Iowa, Milwaukee, Omaha, Peoria and San Antonio in the West Division. Rounding out the 27-team league are the North Division opponents, Cleveland, Grand Rapids, Hamilton, Manitoba, Rochester, Syracuse and Toronto.

At the conclusion of the 2005-06 regular season, the 2006 Calder Cup Playoffs will feature the top four teams in each of the four divisions, with one possible exception: if the fifth-place team in the Atlantic Division finishes with more points than the fourth-place team in the East Division, it would cross over and compete in the East Division playoffs. The postseason format will again feature a divisional playoff, leading to conference finals and ultimately the Calder Cup Finals. All rounds will comprise best-of-seven series. In addition to the division alignment and the playoff plan for 2005-06, the AHL today announced the schedule format for the upcoming season. The Lock Monsters will face off against thirteen of the AHL's twenty-seven teams during the 2005-06 season, with division opponents comprising nearly three quarters of the season schedule. In addition, the Lock Monsters will see the return of the Binghamton Senators to the Tsongas Arena, and will move outside of the Eastern Conference with a match up against the Toronto Marlies.

The entire 2005-06 schedule is expected to be announced in late July. Season ticket packages for the Lock Monsters 2005-06 season are currently on sale in the Lock Monsters ticket office, and can be purchased by calling (978) 458-7825.
