WILKES-BARRE, Penn. - Jason LaBarbera stopped 27 shots in the Norfolk Admirals' 2-0 win over Wilkes-Barre/Scranton at the Mohegan Sun Arena on Friday night.

The Admirals showed their dominance in the first period with two goals. With Marc Cantin in the box for roughing, Emerson Etem grabbed a turnover and raced into the offensive zone on a breakaway. Etem released a shot, which glanced off Penguins goaltender Matt Murray. However, the puck trickled into the net as Conor Sheary collided with Murray. Max Friberg helped on the goal, which came at 11:11 to give the Admirals a 1-0 lead.

Just 2:37 later, Cantin extended the advantage. Cantin toe-dragged the puck along the blue line and ripped a wrister through traffic, which found its way past Murray and into the back of the net. Antoine Laganiere and Etem earned the assists at 13:48 of the opening frame, and just like that, Norfolk went up 2-0.

Penalties filled the second and third periods, but both goaltenders turned aside every chance. The Penguins' best opportunity came during a four-minute double minor penalty on a Chris Wagner high-stick, which the Norfolk defense killed as well as five other Wilkes-Barre/Scranton power plays.

The Penguins pulled Murray with 2:30 left in the final period, yet couldn't beat Admirals netminder Jason LaBarbera, and the Admirals secured their second-straight road win with the 2-0 victory.

Murray stopped 29 of 31 shots, while LaBarbera denied all 27 shots he faced.

Neither team converted on the man-advantage. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton went 0-for-6 and Norfolk was 0-for-3.

The Admirals continue their four-game road trip with a back-to-back against Hershey, beginning tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m.
