Albany Devils News Release

ALBANY, NY -- The Albany Devils fell to the Hershey Bears 4-0 Friday at Times Union Center. Chris Brown led the Bears with a pair of goals and netminder Justin Peters turned away 24 shots in his first AHL appearance of the season.

The loss moves the Devils to 15-13-2-5, while the Bears improved to 18-12-4-1 with their second straight win.

"I give them credit, they played a good road game and they sat back and waited for us to make mistakes," said Head Coach Rick Kowalsky. "I thought we had good pressure at times, but we were not getting to the net enough."

Chris Connor setup both of Brown's one-timer goals. Stanislav Galiev and Philippe Cornet also found the back of the net. Peters, who played for the Albany River Rats between 2006-10 and was loaned to Hershey by Washington before the game, registered his 99th career AHL win.

Coming off a seven-game hiatus with the mumps, Scott Clemmensen made his first start since Dec. 19. He stopped 22 shots in his eighth appearance of the season.

"The game just didn't set up that well for me," Clemmensen said. "Not that you want us to give up more shots, but two quick goals to start and I really did not want to go down 3-0 in the game. I thought that was just too much of a hole for us to have to come back from. "

The Bears jumped out to an early lead with two back-to-back goals in the first period. At 7:44 Steve Olesky intercepted a Devils pass and sent the puck up ice to Conner. Conner wrapped around the net and snuck a pass back to Brown, who sent a shot over Clemmensen's glove.

Moments later, Connor Carrick and Tomas Kundratek patiently waited behind their net and found Galiev, who split the defense and scored all alone at 8:47.

Brown scored the lone power-play goal of the game 44 seconds into the third with the help of Conner and Tim Kennedy along the half wall.

Cornet completed the scoring on a two-on-one rush at 17:19.
