Admirals Set To Continue Homestand

NORFOLK, VA - The Norfolk Admirals will continue a season-high eight-game homestand this week with three games at Scope.

Last week, the Admirals dropped a pair of road contests before earning a split in a pair of home games. On Tuesday night, Marc Denis made 38 saves but his Admirals were shut out by Scott Munroe's 22 saves in a 3-0 loss at Philadelphia. On Wednesday, Marek Kvapil netted a goal and an assist, but Norfolk gave up four third-period goals en route to a 5-3 loss at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. In their return to Scope on Friday, Denis made 43 saves and Adam Henrich and Rob Klinkhammer each recorded a goal and an assist in a 4-3 victory over Portland. The next night, the Pirates returned volley with a 5-3 victory despite a goal and an assist each from Adam Henrich, Justin Keller and Kyle Wanvig.

The Admirals will host the Providence Bruins on Wednesday and the Lowell Devils on Friday and Saturday this week.

EAST DIVISION STANDINGS

At 24-37-2-5, the Admirals are seventh in the East Division with 55 points. The East is led by the Philadelphia Phantoms (40-23-2-3, 85 pts) with the streaking Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (40-24-0-3, 83 pts) hot on their heels. The Albany River Rats (37-26-2-4, 80 pts) and Hershey Bears (34-27-1-5, 74 pts) are currently in playoff positions seeded third and fourth, respectively. The Binghamton Senators (31-27-7-4, 73 pts) and Bridgeport Sound Tigers (34-29-1-2, 71 pts) are knocking on the door to get into the playoffs in fifth and sixth spots, respectively.

ADMIRALS' LOG

- The Admirals have killed 32 of their last 34 penalties (94.1%) over their past six games - including four games against two of the top seven power plays in the AHL (Philadelphia and Portland, two games each).

- The Admirals are 7-3-1-2 in their last 12 games at home.

- Since January 19, no one in the American Hockey League has a higher plus/minus rating than Vladimir Mihalik's +18. The 2005 first round draft pick now leads Norfolk in plus/minus with a +9 rating. His +9 rating is tied for seventh in the AHL among rookie defenseman.

- All-Star forward Justin Keller now ranks third in plus/minus on the Norfolk roster with a +5 rating. Since January 19, Keller is +15 in his last 23 games - the fourth-highest rating in the AHL in that span.

- Norfolk has been out-shot in its past 13 consecutive games (-199 shot differential).

- Defenseman Alexandre Picard netted the game-winning goal for the Lightning in Tampa Bay's 3-0 win over the New York Rangers on Saturday night.

ADMIRALS PLAYER OF THE WEEK NOMINEE

Norfolk Forward Adam Henrich netted five points to lead the Admirals in scoring last week. On Tuesday at Philadelphia, Henrich led the team with five shots but the Admirals fell 3-0 to the Phantoms. After scoring a goal on Wednesday in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Henrich notched a pair of two-point games against the Portland Pirates at Scope. On Friday night, he netted the eventual game-winning goal and added an assist for first star honors in a 4-3 victory over Portland. On Saturday, he also scored a goal and an assist as the Admirals fell to the Pirates 5-3. Henrich now has goals and points in three straight games (3-2-5), points in seven of his last eight games (5-5-10) and goals in five of his last seven games (5G).

- Baxter's Admirals College Night - The Admirals will set aside 100 discounted white level tickets for students with a valid college ID on each mid-week home game during the 2007-08 regular season. These tickets, which normally sell for $12, will be available for $8 for college students. These tickets will also get college students a 20% discount on their food at Baxter's Sports Lounge before and after the game that day. Baxter's Admirals College Night tickets will only be available for purchase at the Scope Box Office. Students of any age with College Night tickets will be permitted into Baxter's prior to game time. After the game, only students over age 21 with College Night ticket stubs will be permitted unless a parent or guardian accompanies them.
