
Clay Wilson Named Rbk/AHL Player Of The Week

Syracuse, NY - The American Hockey League announced today that Syracuse Crunch defenseman Clay Wilson has been named the Rbk/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending March 16, 2008. In two games last week, Wilson notched 5 points (2g, 3a), along with a plus 4 rating and 10 shots on goal.
Wilson was named the first star of the game on Friday night, as he tallied two goals, one assist, registered a plus 2 rating and had seven shots on goal in a 3-0 blanking of Rochester.
On Sunday vs. Binghamton, Wilson factored in on two of the Crunch's four goals, tallying two assists and registering three shots on goal to help Syracuse to a 4-3 overtime victory over the Senators. His contributions helped extend the Crunch's season-long point streak to 11 games.
Wilson will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Crunch home game.
Wilson has appeared in 65 combined games between the Crunch and Portland this season, racking up 11 goals, 32 assists and 33 penalty minutes. He is currently fourth among AHL defenseman in scoring and was selected to represent Syracuse as a member of the PlanetUSA All-Star team at the 2007-08 AHL All-Star Classic earlier this season.
Over his last seven games, Wilson has recorded 11 points (3g, 8a), more than any other Crunch player over that span.
A native of Sturgeon Lake, Minnesota, the 24-year old Wilson was acquired by Columbus, along with Aaron Rome from Anaheim in exchange for Geoff Platt on November 15, 2007.
