
Amerks Close Out Road Trip, Return Home This Week

(Rochester, NY)... The road has not been too kind this month to the Rochester Americans, who finally return home this weekend after being away since March 2nd.
Before their homecoming, the Amerks must battle through their fifth of five away games Thursday, March 20th as they make their last stop on the current road swing in Lake Erie to take on the Monsters. The 7:00 p.m. contest is the fifth of six scheduled meetings between the divisional rivals and will be broadcast live on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and B2 networks. The Amerks fell 7-2 in their last meeting with the Monsters at Quicken Loans Arena on January 26th. Rochester is 1-2-0-1 this season/all-time against the Colorado Avalanche's affiliate.
The homecoming will commence the night of Friday, March 21st as the Amerks host the Grand Rapids Griffins. This divisional contest is the fifth of eight meetings between the two teams. The 7:35 p.m. contest can be heard live on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and B2 networks. The game will also be televised live on Time Warner SportsNet Channel 26. The Amerks shut down the Griffins 1-0 in their last meeting at The Blue Cross Arena on February 10th. The Amerks are 2-1-0-1 this season and 14-15-2 all-time against the Detroit Red Wings' affiliate.
Friday's game falls on the next installment of the Amerks' Friday Night Frenzies. Fans can enjoy live music from the Ozone Rangers in the main lobby of The Blue Cross Arena up until gametime. As part of the festivities, fans can purchase special packages courtesy of Zweigle's. The package includes four 200 Level End seats, four hot dogs, four sodas and four magazines for $60.00. It may be purchased through the Amerks office at 585-454-5335 or through The Blue Cross Arena Box Office. It's also Wendy's Night. Buy one, get one free ticket vouchers for the contest are also available at any participating Wendy's Restaurants. The 21st is also College Night. Students can show their college ID at The Blue Cross Arena Box Office and receive a $16.00 ticket for $10.00 or a $12.00 for just $8.00.
Rochester makes its return to the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena for the second straight week the night of Saturday, March 22nd to exact vengeance on the Binghamton Senators for their recent overtime loss. The 7:05 p.m. contest is the seventh meeting this season between the two teams and can be heard live on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and B2 networks. Rochester has not yet collected a win against the B-Sens this season, falling 4-3 in overtime last week. The Amerks are 18-22-4 all-time against the Ottawa Senators' affiliate.
Last week, Rochester suffered a pair of losses for games three and four of its five-game road trip. The Amerks sit at the bottom of the North Division and the American Hockey League with an 18-38-6-4 record.
Friday night, the Amerks traveled to Syracuse and were hit with a 3-0 shutout from the Crunch. Tyler Plante made 32 saves in the losing effort to fall to 3-13-1. Rochester is 2-6-0-1 this season against the I-90 rival.
Rochester's 4-3 OT loss to the B-Sens Saturday night was its fourth straight and seventh of eight games the Amerks have endured. In spite of the loss, Mark Mancari put up a three-point effort (1+2) to garner second star accolades. Dylan Hunter also chipped in with two points (1+1).
Mancari's work on Saturday increases his team lead to 46 points (16+30). In a close second is the assist leader, Marc-Andre Gragnani, with 41 points (9+32). Gragnani continues to be among the top rookies in the AHL, ranking sixth for points among the league's first-year players. Stefan Meyer leads the Amerks with 18 goals this season.
