
Admirals Raise $27,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Through Annual MDA Jersey Auction

NORFOLK, Va. - Thanks to the generosity of its fans, the Norfolk Admirals hockey club was able to raise $27,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association on Saturday night in its ninth annual MDA Jersey Auction, presented by PAPCO. Over the past nine seasons, the Admirals have been able to raise $240,960 for MDA through the annual jersey auction.
Friday and Saturday, the Admirals donned one-of-a-kind jerseys featuring the twentieth anniversary logo and colors. Immediately following the conclusion of Saturday's 2-1 victory against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, a live auction took place on the ice with the jerseys sold right off the players' backs. The highest winning bids went for the jerseys of #28 Zenon Konopka and #9 Blair Jones, whose jerseys each sold for $2,000.00. In total, 28 jerseys, a team-autographed stick and a team-autographed blanket were auctioned to benefit the MDA.

The Admirals will host the Grand Rapids Griffins, AHL affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings, next Friday night at Scope. The first 2,000 fans through the gates will receive the first set of Admirals trading cards. Following the game, fans are invited to skate on the ice with the Admirals in our final post-game skate of the season.
