In the second period, Hartford continued to build on their lead when Vladimir Denisov tallied his third goal of the year at 7:46 giving the Pack a 3-0 cushion. Just 10-seconds after Denisov's goal, Charles Linglet cut Springfield's deficit to 3-1 with his seventh marker on the campaign. Late in the second period, Hartford regained complete control of the game when Jared Nightingale and Corey Potter scored just 27-seconds apart in giving the Wolf Pack a 5-1 lead through 40 minutes of play.

In the third period, Hartford built a 7-1 advantage when Weise scored his second goal of the game, followed by Artem Anisimov less than five minutes into the final period. Springfield's Ryan Potulny tallied his 30th goal of the year late in the third period marking the first Falcons player to notch 30 goals in a season since Jean-Guy Trudel tallied 34 in 2000-01.
