Milwaukee Admirals News Release

Milwaukee, WI- The Milwaukee Admirals returned to the Bradley Center Wednesday night after an eight-game road trip, and were defeated by the Peoria Rivermen in shootout 4-3. It was the third time this season the Rivermen have beaten the Admirals in a shootout.

Being back on home ice for the first time in nearly three weeks did not treat the Admirals power-play well. Milwaukee went 0 for 7 on the man advantage and lost the game despite controlling much of the 5-on-5 action.

The Admirals opened the scoring 11:56 into the opening period when Alexander Sulzer received the puck from Teemu Laakso at the Admirals blue line and fired a pass to the far blue line where Andreas Thuresson picked it up. Thuresson proceeded to move to the top of the near circle and shot the puck off Peoria goaltender Ben Bishop's left shoulder and into the net.

The Admirals controlled the opening period, out shooting the Rivermen 14-4, and led 1-0 after the first.

Peoria came out fast in the second period and took advantage of their only two power play opportunities of the night when Bryce Lampman and Julian Talbot scored just 39 seconds apart to take the lead. Barry Tallackson put the Rivermen up two when he picked off a pass from Robert Dietrich near the Admirals blue line and fired the puck on net. Tallackson followed his shot and put home a rebound 7:23 into the middle period.

Milwaukee answered 1:15 later when defenseman Jonathan Blum skated down the near boards and slid the puck over to Colin Wilson in the far corner. Wilson found Peter Olvecky in the slot where he got Bishop to his knees and lifted a shot top shelf past the net minder's blocker.

The Admirals were able to knot the score at three when Scott Ford notched his first goal of the season. Ford, set up by a Triston Grant pass off the boards, sent the puck to the front of a crowded net and found the twine with 3:24 to play in period.

Neither team could find the game winner in the third period despite a combined 17 shots being put on goal by the two teams.

Peoria's Lars Eller took a hooking penalty with just 22 seconds left in regulation setting the Admirals up for a 4 on 3 power play to open the extra session. Milwaukee missed a golden opportunity to take the game when Ryan Jones couldn't find the handle on the puck after pin point passing by the Admirals power play unit left Bishop out of position and the goal wide open.

The shootout was unkind to the Admirals for the fourth time this season. Rivermen goals by Eller and Talbot gave Peoria a 2-1 edge in the shootout. Ryan Jones lit the lamp for Milwaukee's lone tally.

The Admirals are back on home ice this Friday night against the Texas Stars. Tickets for the game can be purchased by calling Ticketmaster at (800) 745-3000 or online at www.ticketmaster.com. Groups of ten or more can receive $2 off the face value of each ticket by calling the Admirals office at (414) 227-0550.
