Rochester Americans News Release
(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Americans announced today that the team will once again collect toys for the United States Marine Corps "Toys for Tots" drive in an effort to provide Christmas gifts to the needy children of the Greater Rochester Area and the surrounding communities. This year marks the eighth consecutive season the Amerks have been affiliated with the program.
Fans can donate new, unwrapped toys during two Amerks games in December, beginning on Friday, December 11th. The team will also collect toys on Friday, December 18th. Fans who bring in a new, unwrapped toy on those nights will receive $5.00 off 100 and 200 Premium seats or $4.00 off seats in the 100 and 200 Ends at The Blue Cross Arena Box Office.
Of course we encourage all of our fans, including all of those who have already purchased tickets for these games, to please bring an unwrapped toy as well to support this very worthwhile cause and make this a very special holiday for as many kids as possible.
"The Rochester Americans pride themselves on being a part of the fabric of the city of Rochester and we invite all of our fans to support this 'Toys for Tots' effort and help us put a smile on the face of as many kids as possible during this holiday season," said Amerks President Lewis Staats.
The mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.
"It is a great idea," said USMC Staff Sergeant Oscar Hernandez about partnering with the Amerks. "If we have a big turnout of toys it will only benefit the children of Rochester. All the toys stay in the Rochester community. I encourage people to come out and support the cause, the team, and kids that wouldn't have a good Christmas without this program."
This marks the 62nd year of the Marine Corps involvement with the nationwide "Toys for Tots" program. For further information, please contact the Amerks' Communications Department at (585) 454-5335, the local Toys for Tots Office at (585) 802-3192 or go online to rochester-ny.toysfortots.org.
