
Hurricanes Recall Bryan Rodney From Albany

RALEIGH, NC-Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has recalled defenseman Bryan Rodney from the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League (AHL). In a separate move, the Albany River Rats have recalled forward Jacob Micflikier from the Florida Everblades of the East Coast Hockey League and reassigned forward Matthew Pistilli to Florida.
Rodney, 25, was recalled to the Hurricanes for the second time this season on Saturday, Nov. 28th, and played in the team's game that night at Buffalo before being reassigned to Albany on Nov. 30. In six NHL games with Carolina this season, the London, Ont., native has earned two assists and averaged 18:27 of ice time per game. Rodney (6'0", 195 lbs.) has scored one goal and earned five assists (6 points) in 16 AHL games this season with the River Rats. He is in his fifth professional season and his second with the Hurricanes organization after signing with the club as a free agent on May 12, 2008. Rodney made his NHL debut with Carolina in 2008-09, and earned two assists in eight games with the Hurricanes last season. He has scored nine goals and earned 51 assists (60 points) in 124 career AHL regular-season games with Hartford and Albany.
Micflikier, 25, was recalled to the River Rats for the second time this season on Friday, November 27th, and scored two goals in two games with Albany before being reassigned to Florida on November 29th. The Winnipeg, MB native has three goals and a plus-4 rating in five AHL games with Albany this season. Micfllikier (5'8", 180 lbs.) also led all Everblades in scoring this season with 31 points (9 goals, 22 assists) in 16 games.
Pistilli, 21, has five points (2 goals, 3 assists) in 21 games with the River Rats this season. The Montreal, QC native completed his fourth season of Junior hockey last year with Shawinigan, and led the Cataractes with 45 goals. Pistilli (6'2", 219 lbs.) signed a three-year two-way contract with Carolina as a free aganed on May 20, 2009.
The River Rats hosts the defending Calder Cup Champion Hershey Bears this Friday night at 7:00 p.m. at the Times Union Center.
