Milwaukee Admirals News Release

Cleveland, OH--Michael Chaput scored the game-winning goal in overtime to lift the Lake Erie Monsters to a 2-1 overtime win over the Admirals Friday night.

Chaput came off the Monsters bench and received a pass from Markus Hannikainen. His shot from the slot beat Admirals goalie Marek Mazanec over his left shoulder for the win at 3:54 of the extra session.

Mazanec finished the game with 21 saves. Lake Erie goalie Brad Thiessen stopped 22 shots to earn the win.

Milwaukee scored a power play goal at 9:01 of the first period to take a 1-0 lead. Cody Hodgson was trapped in the right corner but was able to tap the puck behind the net for Vladislav Kamenev. Kamenev fed a pass into the left circle for a quick shot from former Monsters defenseman Stefan Elliott for the tally. Elliott, who scored 43 goals in 199 games for Lake Erie as a member of the Colorado Avalanche organization, scored his first as an Admiral.

Lake Erie tied the game at 1-1 with 8.7 seconds remaining in the second period. Michael Paliotta tried a slap shot from the middle of the blue line, but his stick snapped. As a scramble ensued, Monsters forward T.J. Tynan tapped the puck to the left circle where Steve Eminger fired it into the net for his first goal of the season.

The Admirals and Monsters play again at noon Saturday.

Milwaukee's next home game is Sat., Jan. 30 against the Grand Rapids Griffins at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.
