Panthers Recall Olsen from Portland

Portland, ME - Florida Panthers General Manager Dale Tallon announced today the recall of defenseman Dylan Olsen from the Portland Pirates.

Olsen, a 6-foot-3, 210 pound defenseman from Calgary, Alberta, played nine games on his most recent reassignment to Portland. The 25 year-old scored one goal and added five assists for six points since he was reassigned by the Panthers on December 21.

Overall with Portland this season, Olsen has two goals and six assists for eight points and six penalty minutes in 18 games.

With Florida this season, Olsen has played in eight games, notching one assist and two PIM.

Selected by the Chicago Blackhawks in the First Round (28th Overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Olsen has played a total of 124 NHL games with Chicago and Florida. Prior to turning pro, he played a season-and-a-half of NCAA Division I Men's Hockey with the University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs.

Olsen will join the Panthers in time for their home game tonight at the BB&T Center in Sunrise, Florida against the defending Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks.
