Providence, RI - The Springfield Falcons could not stop the league's best power play in a 4-1 loss to the Providence Bruins on Friday night.

Providence was awarded a power play in the first minute of the game which was capitalized on to give the Bruins a 1-0 lead. At 1:31, Frank Vatrano tallied his eleventh of the year with a wrist shot past Niklas Treutle. Seth Griffith and Austin Czarnik assisted on the goal. The Bruins' power play extended the lead to a 2-0 score when Alexander Khokhlachev scored his thirteenth of the year with assists from Czarnik and Vatrano. The Bruins carried a 2-0 lead into the second and outshot the Falcons 12-7 in the first period.

The game was held to a 2-0 score for a majority of the second period. Another Falcons penalty would prove to be fatal as Vatrano fired home a one-timer with 21 seconds left in the frame. His second of the night and twelfth of the season was assisted by Griffith and Matt Irwin.

The Bruins began the third period with a shorthanded goal scored by Brandon DeFazio. His tenth of the year was scored just 1:06 into the period and assisted by Czarnik and Chris Casto. The Bruins 4-0 lead would hold until there was 27 seconds left when Christian Thomas blasted a slap shot past Malcolm Subban. His tenth of the year was scored on the power play and assisted by Greg Carey and Dustin Jeffrey. Treutle fell to a record of 8-11-2 with 27 saves.
