Additional Players Added to All-Star Stop Rosters

CURVE, Pa. - The Altoona Curve, in conjunction with the Eastern League of Professional Baseball, today announce three changes to the rosters for the 2014 Eastern League All-Star Stop presented by UPMC Health Plan that will be played at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 16 at Peoples Natural Gas Field in Curve, Pa.

Portland lefties Henry Owens and Brian Johnson along with Harrisburg's Neil Holland will all be unable to pitch in the Eastern League's mid-summer classic and will not be attending. RHP Noe Ramirez and LHP Robby Scott of the Portland Sea Dogs have been added to the Eastern Division roster in place of Johnson and Owens. Harrisburg Senators RHP Colin Bates has been added to the Western Division roster in place of Holland.

The Eastern League All-Star Stop presented by UPMC Health Plan will begin at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, July 15 with the Curve, Pa. Heroes Game presented by AMBUCS Altoona and The Altoona Mirror. The Heroes Game is a softball game that will feature the Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team (WWAST) taking on a group of Curve, Pa. Alumni that includes former Curve stars Adam Hyzdu, Tike Redman, Jack Wilson, Chris Snusz, Mike Connolly, Ray Navarrete, Miles Durham and Kory DeHaan.

After the Curve, Pa. Heroes Game, the Curve will dedicate a POW/MIA seat in the Toyota Diamond Club in memory of those soldiers who have not returned from conflict or are missing in action with a ceremony on the field.

Following the first two events of the night will be the Ghostman Games & Hitting Challenge, which is the Curve's version of the Home Run Derby. Each division will participate in five mini games to accumulate "ghost runners" that they can put on the bases for the home-run hitting part of the competition. Once the mini games have been completed and teams have accumulated their ghost runners, four sluggers from both the Western and Eastern Divisions will square off in a Home Run Derby. There will not only be an overall Home Run Derby winner but one of the two divisions will also take home a team award for driving in the most runs during this part of the competition.

All coach and player jerseys that are worn by Eastern League All-Stars in the Ghostman Games and Hitting Challenge will be up for auction during an in-game silent auction to help with the purchase of an Action Trackchair for one local veteran, who was selected by AMBUCS Altoona. That selected individual will be on hand to receive it following the events on Tuesday. Once the Ghostman Games have finished, winning bidders can come down on the field and claim their jerseys as well as meet the All-Star who wore it.

On the 16th, gates will swing open at 4 p.m. for the All-Star Experience at the ballpark that will allow fans a chance to meet and get autographs from the stars of the All-Star Stop. While one team is taking batting practice, the other team will be posted up throughout the ballpark at different stations for fans to interact and hang out with the All-Stars as well as get autographs. The All-Star Clash itself will begin at 7 p.m. and pit the Eastern Division against the Western Division for the league's midsummer classic. A postgame fireworks show will follow the Clash to end the two days of festivities.

The All-Star Clash will be broadcast live on WTAJ-TV locally in the Altoona-Johnstown market, via the web on MiLB.tv, over the airwaves in the Altoona area on ESPN Radio 1430 WVAM and online via the TuneIn Radio App.
