Alaska Aces News Release

Wes Goldie and Scott Howes each had three-point nights, and Gerald Coleman made 22 saves on 23 shots, as the Alaska Aces continued their league-best winning streak with a 4-1 win over the Las Vegas Wranglers on Wednesday night. Alaska has now won nine straight games, matching their second-longest winning streak in franchise history. The Aces improved to 20-9-1 on the year, and 9-1 on their current home stand. The Aces and Wranglers will return for two more games on Friday and Saturday before the Aces hit the road again. A mostly scoreless first period went into the final minute, but at 19:41, Jamie Bates scored to give Las Vegas the first goal of the game and a 1-0 lead after one. But the Aces scored the final four goals to keep their streak alive. Goldie tallied his first of two goals on the night at 11:22 of the second period on a Howes setup to even the score 1-1. Then at 14:10 Howes slammed home a rebound to give the Aces their first lead of the night.

The Aces never looked back, and added to their lead in the third period. Howes again found Goldie in the slot at 14:20 of the third for his league-leading 20th goal of the season to make it 3-1 Alaska. The Aces then stamped on the exclamation point with a Brian Swanson shorthanded, empty net goal with 1.1 second remaining in the game.

Gerald Coleman (15-7-1) made 22 saves on 23 shots for his eighth straight win. Joe Fallon (6-5-1) suffered the loss, making 28 saves on 31 shots. The Aces power play went 1-3, while the Wranglers went 0-2. The Aces outshot the Wranglers 32-23 in the game.

The Aces and Wranglers will return home to conclude their home stand on Friday and Saturday night at 7:15pm. Fans can visit the Aces at their Facebook page for more information, or call the Aces at 907.258.ACES.
