
Wheeling's Street Named Reebok Hockey ECHL Player of the Month

PRINCETON, N.J ¬" Wheeling Nailers rookie forward Ben Street is the Reebok Hockey ECHL Player of the Month for December.
Street scored 20 points (10g-10a) and was +9 in 10 games during December, helping lead the Nailers to an 8-3-1 record for the month and increasing their lead atop the North Division to six points over Kalamazoo and Cincinnati.
The 23 year old had at least one point in nine of his 10 games during the month, highlighted by a pair of four-point games. Street scored two goals and added two assists in a 7-2 win against Gwinnett on Dec. 10 and then tallied three goals and an assist in a 5-3 victory over Cincinnati on Dec. 26. He also had a three-point game (1g-2a) in a 6-4 win over Kalamazoo on Dec. 3.
Street leads ECHL rookies 13 power-play points and 152 shots, is second among rookies with 32 points and is tied for second among rookies with 14 goals. Last week, he was named to the ECHL All-Star Team for the 2011 ECHL All-Star Classic to be held in Bakersfield on Jan. 26.
The native of Coquitlam, British Colombia is currently recalled to Wilkes-Barre/ Scranton of the AHL where he played in two games this season. Prior to turning pro, Street scored 93 points (48g-45a) in 171 games at the University of Wisconsin.
