Florida's McKenzie Named Reebok Hockey ECHL Rookie of the Month

PRINCETON, N.J. ‚¬" Florida Everblades right wing Mike McKenzie is the Reebok Hockey ECHL Rookie of the Month for December.

The 24 year old scored nine goals and added eight assists for 17 points in 14 games during the month as the Everblades went 9-4-1. McKenzie had five multi-point games and three power play goals along with a +5 rating during the month.

McKenzie scored two goals in a 4-2 win at Cincinnati on Dec. 3 and in a 6-2 win against Gwinnett on Dec. 22. He ended the month on a six-game scoring streak (6g-4a).

A native of Whitby, Ontario, McKenzie is under contract with Charlotte of the AHL. He has 28 points (14g-14a) in 33 games for the Everblades this season and is tied for second among ECHL rookies in goals and is tied for fourth in points and shooting percentage (20.3%).

McKenzie played four seasons at St. Lawrence University registering 114 points (49g- 65a) in 144 games. He played in three games for Albany of the AHL last season where he registered one assist.
