The game began with a terrific pace, including quality scoring chances at both ends, but each goaltender stood strong. Alaska's James Reid turned aside all ten shots he faced, while Stockton's Olivier Roy stopped the seven against him. Alaska's Wes Goldie had arguably the best chance of the period from the slot, but Roy made a sprawling save, while lunging to his right to keep it scoreless.

The goals came in a flurry in the second period. Alaska broke the scoreless tie when Wes Goldie scored his 31st goal of the season at 2:17 of the second period. The Aces extended the lead to 2-0 when Ethan Cox finished off a terrific shift at 6:07 with a shot through the legs of Roy. Stockton immediately answered when Chris D'Alvise redirected a puck past Reid to get cut Alaska's lead to one 36 second later. On an Aces power play Alaska upped their lead back to two goals on a Chad Anderson redirection at the right side of the net at 12:37. Stockton again cut the lead down to one when Colton Hayes stepped out of the penalty box and was sprung on a breakaway where he scored at 17:24. The Aces took a 3-2 lead into the final frame after outshooting Stockton 10-9 in the middle period.

The Aces added to their lead in the third with the only goal of the period. Cox scored from the bottom of the right circle at 9:48 for his second of the game. That was all Reid needed, as he added seven third period saves to finish off the victory.

James Reid (1-0-1) earned the win, making 24 saves on 26 shots. Olivier Roy (12-16-5) took the loss, stopping 18 of 22 shots. The Aces power play went 1-4, while the Thunder went 0-2. The Aces were outshot by the Thunder 26-22 in the game.

The Aces remain on the road for two more games in Stockton on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. The Aces then come back to Alaska for their final two home games of the season on Mar. 9th and 10th.
