Aces Potent Offense Downs Isotopes in Series Opener

Aces 14 (24-13), Isotopes 4 (12-25), - Greater Nevada Field | Reno, Nev.

AT THE DISH: Four of the Isotopes five hits were for extra-bases, including Jose Gomez's two-run homer in the eighth ... The other three extra-base hits were doubles recorded by Rio Ruiz, Chris Owings and Ryan Vilade ... Ruiz's double marked his eighth two-base hit in his last seven games.

TOEING THE RUBBER: After allowing a leadoff home run, Isotopes starter Dereck Rodriguez (1-2, 9.33) left the game after facing just three batters with an apparent injury ... Jack Wynkoop took over for Rodriguez and dominated the Aces. The left-hander allowed two hits while striking out six over his 4.2 scoreless innings of relief ... Logan Cozart and Heath Holder each allowed four runs out of the bullpen while Chris Rusin yielded five.

TOPES TIDBITS: The Isotopes are 2-4 after scheduled off days (0-4 on the road) ... Albuquerque is 2-5 in series openers (0-4 on the road).

ON DECK: The Isotopes and Aces are back in action of Friday with game two of their six-game series when Brandon Gold (1-3, 7.94) takes the hill for Albuquerque. First pitch from the biggest-little city in the world is scheduled for 7:35 p.m.
