Las Vegas Wranglers News Release
Las Vegas - Outshooting the home team 46-13, the Alaska Aces won 7-2 over the Las Vegas Wranglers tonight in the second of a three-game series this weekend.
Las Vegas opened up scoring with back-to-back goals scored 55 seconds apart. Center Chris Francis drew first blood, and defenseman Eddie DelGrosso followed up for a 2-0 lead 7:26 into the contest. Alaska was quick to respond, and Aces left wing Tommy Mele posted the team's first goal of the night just two minutes after DelGrosso's. To tie the game 2-2, Aces defenseman Zach Davies beat Wranglers goalie Travis Fullerton with five minutes left in the period.
The game belonged to the Aces after the opening 20 minutes as the team scored a total of five unanswered goals across the second and third periods. Alaska took the 4-2 advantage at the end of the second off the sticks of right wing Peter Sivak and defenseman Dustin Molle. Aces forward Tim Coffman tallied two goals four minutes apart late in the third, capped off by right wing Andy Taranto's power play goal in the final two minutes of the game. In the loss, Fullerton made 39 saves on 46 shots.
The two teams finish the three-game series tomorrow afternoon at 2:05 p.m. Celebrating Halloween early with a "Skate and Treat," costumed kids age 12 and under will get into the game for free, and everyone can trick-or-treat along the concourse. A costume parade will take place on the ice during the first intermission, and a post-game skate with the Wranglers will wrap up the weekend.
