Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers (31-29-8, 70 Points) were defeated by the Alaska Aces (43-22-3, 89 Points) 5-3 in front of 3,744 fans Tuesday night at the Orleans Arena. Wranglers forward Scott McCulloch tallied two goals as the Wranglers dropped their third straight decision. Forward Kelly Czuy added a goal and an assist as the Wranglers fell to 19-12-2 at home this season. Alaska defenseman Brian Miller added four assists as the Aces improve to 7-2-0 against Las Vegas this season. Cam Keith scored twice, while Josh Soares, Nick Tuzzolino, and Scott Burt also tallied for Alaska. Goalie J.P. Lamoureux made 33 saves as Alaska improved to 15-15-2 on the road this season. Wranglers' goalie John DeCaro stopped 23 of 27 shots as he fell to 10-6-0 this season. Las Vegas will host Alaska Friday night at 7:30 PM.
Las Vegas picked up a first-period lead as forward Scott McColluch tallied the first goal in his professional career. Forwards Kelly Czuy and Chris Neiszner set up McColluch at 10:26 for the 1-0 Wranglers lead.
In the second period, Alaska took advantage of a five-minute, five-on-three power play with three goals. Forward Cam Keith tallied his 19th goal of the season to tie the game 1-1. Just 36-seconds later, center Josh Soares scored his 11th goal to give Alaska a 2-1 lead. The Aces stretched the lead to 3-1 as defenseman Nick Tuzzolino notched the third Alaska goal on the power play. Cam Keith and defenseman Brian Miller each picked up their third points, setting up Tuzzolino's sixth goal of the season at 7:25. Alaska Captain Scott Burt tallied the Aces fourth power-play goal, taking a 4-1 lead at 10:52 of the middle period. Brian Miller and forward Luke Erickson set up Burt's 16th goal of the season. Las Vegas trimmed the lead to 4-2 with a power-play goal from forward Kelly Czuy. Czuy let off a wrist shot from the slot at 14:55 for his ninth goal of the season. The Wranglers pulled within one goal late in the period as Scott McColluch scored his second goal of the game. Defenseman Mike Madill set up McCulloch who put in the loose puck at 18:08.
Alaska forward Cam Keith added an empty-net goal at 19:50 of the third period for the 5-3 Alaska win.
The Wranglers will host the Alaska Aces at the Orleans Arena again on Friday at 7:30 PM.
