Aaron Ness Loaned to Sound Tigers

UNIONDALE, N.Y. (Jan. 2, 2014) - The New York Islanders have announced that defenseman Aaron Ness has been loaned to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (AHL).

Ness, 23, was recalled by the Islanders on Nov. 7 and played in 20 games with the team, scoring three points (one goal, two assists). His first career NHL goal came against the Los Angeles Kings on Nov. 14. Ness began the season with the Sound Tigers and had scored four points (one goal, three assists) in nine games while also serving as an alternate captain.

Drafted in the second round (40th overall) of the 2008 NHL Draft, Ness made his professional debut at the end of the 2011 season following a three-year career at the University of Minnesota. As a member of the Golden Gophers, he played in 111 games and collected 43 points (six goals, 37 assists). He was also named 2008 Minnesota Mr. Hockey prior to collegiate career.

The Sound Tigers will play the Norfolk Admirals on the road both Friday and Saturday. Their next home game is Jan. 11 against the Portland Pirates.
