Springfield Falcons News Release
Springfield, Mass. - The Springfield Falcons announced Thursday that forward Jonathan Marchessault, defenseman Tim Erixon and goaltender Mike McKenna were all returned on loan by the Columbus Blue Jackets, the team's NHL affiliate.
In 31 games with the Falcons this season, Marchessault, who was just recalled by Columbus Wednesday morning, has totaled a team-leading 26 points, 12 goals, 14 assists, seven power-play goals and four game-winning goals. In 12 December games, the Quebec City native notched an AHL-best 15 points and eight goals.
Erixon returns to the Falcons after being recalled December 8. Since then, the 22-year-old defenseman has appeared in one game with the Blue Jackets, recording two penalty minutes and a +1 rating in 14:17 of action. At the time of his last recall, Erixon led the Falcons with 16 points and 13 assists.
McKenna rejoins the Falcons after making four appearances and three starts for Columbus with a 3.01 goals-against average and .904 save percentage. The St. Louis, Missouri native was recalled December 3, just one day after he earned CCM/AHL Goaltender of the Month honors for November. McKenna, 6-2-0 with two shutouts with Springfield this season, has the best goals-against average (1.45) and save percentage (.943) in the AHL.
The Falcons are back in action Friday when they visit the Albany Devils at the Times Union Center. The team returns to the MassMutual Center Saturday, January 4 to host the Providence Bruins at 7:00 p.m. Garden legend Rene Rancourt will perform the National Anthem and sign autographs for fans at Saturday's game.
Fans are invited to the MassMutual Center in 2013-14 to watch the reigning Northeast Division-champion Falcons compete in their 20th anniversary season.
