Adirondack Phantoms News Release
The Philadelphia Flyers have announced that rookie defenseman Maxim Lamarche has been reassigned back to the Elmira Jackals of the ECHL. Lamarche had been playing with Elmira since early November before his quick three-game stint with the Phantoms last week.
Lamache, 21, had been with the Adirondack Phantoms from December 27 through January 1 appearing in three games and scoring zero points. His game on December 27 at the Albany Devils was his first career AHL game. And on December 28 he played his first regular season game at the Glens Falls Civic Center against the Providence Bruins.
Lamarche, 21, began the season with Adirondack but participated in zero games for the club in the first month of the season prior to his assignment to Elmira on November 5. In the ECHL, he received the opportunity to be a regular member of the lineup. Lamarche has played in 20 games for the Jackals scoring two goals and one assist while recording 10 penalty minutes.
Lamarche is a 6-3, 218 pound right-handed shooter. The Laval, Quebec native was signed as a free agent by the Philadelphia Flyers organization last summer out of Baie-Commeau Drakkar of the QMJHL where he was teammates with current Phantom Petr Straka. He scored 9-34-43 with a +31 rating last year with the Drakkar while helping the club advance to the QMJHL Finals where they lost to eventual Memorial Cup Champion Halifax. He played 252 career games in four seasons in the QMJHL scoring 23-90-113 with 269 PIM.
The Phantoms return to action this weekend continuing their five-game homestand. The first game of 2014 is Friday night against the Hershey Bears with pregame Happy Hour from 6:00-7:00 PM featuring $2 beer specials. Saturday is Big Face Fitzy on a Stick Night for the first 2,500 fans presented by Liberty Graphics paying tribute to tough-guy Zack FitzGerald when the Phantoms tangle with Northway Rival, the Albany Devils. 25 Terrific Seasons
Glens Falls is celebrating its 25th season hosting an AHL team and in so doing now joins an elite group of just 9 other active markets who can make such a claim. It's a great hockey tradition with an old-school feel that began with the Adirondack Red Wings in 1979. In their 20-year tenure at the Glens Falls Civic Center through 1999, the Red Wings won four Calder Cups. The Adirondack Phantoms began play in Glens Falls in 2009-10 and are in their fifth season bringing exciting AHL action to the North Country.
